Studio NX: Internship
As an Animation Intern in Studio NX, Monica worked on preproduction assets for a animated short horror film inspired by Russian horror stories about rats under the mentor ship of Adam Jeffcoat.
Monica redrew the faces of the main character, Nina.
She also created several new expressions for Nina using the given reference and mood borad.
Following a given animation reference, Monica analyzed the running motion of a rat and drew it in the required visual style.
Due to a change in the rat's design in the preproduction process, Monica drew the revised version of the rat running motions.
In the story, rats turn into monsters(Druids) under the influence of a powerful spell.
Monica also designed the running motion for the Druid character in the desired visual style.
As the last task of the internship, Monica created the lighting pass for one of the night scenes in the production. After receiving advice from Adam, she revised the lighting pass, reducing lights and reflections while adding mist in the night to better fit the horror atmosphere of the story background.
